Tulane University scholars visited Kraków to jumpstart cooperation

Tulane University scholars visited Kraków to jumpstart cooperation

Together with our friends from New Orleans, we discussed about development of our common research efforts and interactions with external stakeholders in sustainability-related projects.

Tulane University is a reputable research and didactic institution with a strong record of interdisciplinarity and cooperation with the socio-economic environment. We had the opportunity to host the wonderful delegation composed of Professor David Meyer – Dean of Tulane Law School, Professor Amy Gajda – an award-winning author, Professor James Gordley – a renowned expert of comparative law, contract law and legal history, Professor Mark Davis – Director of the Tulane Institute on Water Resources Law and Policy, and Christopher Dalbom – lawyer and geographer, Assistant Director of the Tulane Institute on Water Resources Law and Policy. It was a continuation of talks initiated in October during our visit in the US.

Our guests had to face a large amount of snow and an even more significant number of meetings, many of which were focused on sustainability and establishment of extensive research cooperation in matters related to environmental protection. We had plenty of interesting discussions with faculty members, with representatives of the City of Kraków and with representatives of the Climate Concil of the Jagiellonian University; we also had a tour of the sewage treatment plant in Płaszów. For even more snow and discussions, the delegation took part in a working trip to Zakopane under the guidance of dr Wojciech Bańczyk.

The results of our hard work throughout the week? A very promising action plan, including development of common research teams, cooperation with our cities, student involvement, exchange of scholars, and many other ideas.

Big thanks to members of the delegation, their co-discussants, the City of Kraków, and everyone else who contributed to organization of the events.
